Cost to install speed bumps

Short answer

Installing a bolt-down rubber speed bump costs $0–$400 per 12 ft lane in labor — two people, about 30 minutes — because anchor hardware ships with the kit and there is no paving, cure time or lane closure. Total installed cost lands at $260–$920 per lane including the kit, against $1,500–$3,000+ for a poured asphalt hump at the same spot.

Why poured devices cost 5–10 times more

A contractor bid covers mobilization, saw cutting or tack coat, material, compaction, striping and a return trip — and the lane stays closed while it cures. None of that applies to a bolt-down kit, and when the lot gets re-striped or the traffic pattern changes, the rubber unbolts and moves instead of being milled out.

How to keep the install cost at zero

Most of our customers install in-house. Schedule it with the crew that already handles striping or fence repair, order all lanes on one pallet so freight lands once, and drill every hole for a lane before switching to the wrench. Re-torque after 30 days and the job is closed.

Frequently asked

How much does it cost to install speed bumps?

Installing a bolt-down rubber speed bump costs $0 to $400 per 12 ft lane in labor: two people for about 30 minutes. In-house maintenance staff often absorb it at no incremental cost; a hired handyman or striping crew typically charges $150–$400 per lane including mobilization. Anchor hardware comes with the kit.

What is the total installed cost per lane?

$260–$920 per 12 ft lane installed: $260–$660 for the kit depending on profile, plus $0–$400 of labor, plus LTL freight to your ZIP. A poured asphalt hump at the same location is $1,500–$3,000+ installed.

What tools does the crew need?

A hammer drill with a masonry bit sized to the anchor, an impact or torque wrench, a chalk line, a blower or brush to clear the holes, and standard PPE. No paving equipment, no compaction, no cure time.

How long does one lane take?

About 30 minutes for two people: position and square the modules, mark every bolt hole, drill to anchor depth, blow out the dust, set and torque the anchors. A four-lane parking lot is a half-day job.

Does concrete cost more to install than asphalt?

Slightly. Concrete needs expansion or sleeve anchors and slower drilling, so budget a few extra minutes per hole; asphalt takes spike anchors and drills faster. Both use the same kit and the same hardware allowance.

Is there an installation charge on my quote?

No. We supply the kit with anchors included and quote units plus LTL freight as one landed figure. Installation is yours to schedule, which is what keeps the installed cost 5–10 times below a poured hump.
