Speed bump cost & installation guide
Short answer: a bolt-down rubber speed bump kit for a standard 12 ft lane typically runs $260–$520 in materials, plus freight. Install is a two-person, 30-minute job with a hammer drill — no paving contractor, no cure time.

Five cost drivers
- 1. Profile. The 2.4 in steel-plate reinforced unit costs more per foot than the 3 in modular rubber bump because of the internal plate and rubber density.
- 2. Lane width. Price scales by the foot; most quotes are per 12 ft lane, with end caps included.
- 3. Quantity. Pallet and container pricing drops unit cost significantly past 10 lanes.
- 4. Anchors. Asphalt uses spike anchors, concrete uses expansion or sleeve bolts; hardware is included in every kit.
- 5. Freight. LTL freight priced to your ZIP. Distance and dock access (liftgate vs forklift) move the number.
Kit sizing formula
For the 3 in modular bump: two 10 in end caps close each side, and the remaining span is filled with 39 in and 20 in center modules.
center modules = (lane width in inches − 20 in) ÷ module length
Example: a 12 ft lane is 144 in. Subtract 20 in for end caps → 124 in of body → three 39 in modules (117 in) plus one 20 in module trimmed to fit. The kit builder on the home page does this for you and attaches the result to your quote.
Four-step bolt-down install
- Position. Lay the modules across the lane, square to traffic, end caps flush with the curb.
- Mark. Mark every bolt hole through the rubber onto the pavement.
- Drill. Hammer-drill each hole to anchor depth and blow out the dust.
- Torque. Set the anchors and torque the heads flush so nothing catches a plow or sweeper.
Maintenance
Re-torque anchors after the first 30 days, then annually. Replace individual modules instead of the whole run, and repaint or re-tape reflective bands every 2–3 years in high-sun states.
