Speed bumps for gravel roads

Bolt-down rubber speed bumps need a firm surface to hold their anchors, so on gravel or dirt the reliable method is to pour a small concrete pad (or asphalt strip) under the bump and bolt into it. Loose gravel alone lets anchors work free. For ranch and private gravel roads we usually recommend the 3 in modular profile at $260–$520 per 12 ft lane.

3-Inch Modular Rubber Speed Bump

Pour a pad first

A strip slightly wider and longer than the bump gives the anchors something solid.

Grade the approach

Keep gravel level on both sides so tires don't dig ruts at the edges.

Mind drainage

Leave water a path around the bump ends so it doesn't pond or wash the base.

Frequently asked

Can you put a speed bump on a gravel road?

Yes, but bolt-down rubber should be anchored into a concrete or asphalt pad, not loose gravel.

Will the anchors hold in dirt?

Not reliably. Anchors in loose material work free under traffic; a pad solves it.

How much does it cost per lane?

List price per 12 ft lane is $260–$520 for the 3 in modular profile and $360–$660 for the 2.4 in steel-plate heavy-duty profile, plus LTL freight. Pallet and container orders are priced below list.

How long does installation take?

Bolt-down install takes two people about 30 minutes per 12 ft lane with a hammer drill and the included anchors. No paving contractor and no cure time.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. Every kit is in stock in the USA and ships by LTL freight to all 48 contiguous states. Freight is quoted to your ZIP code.
